Cascade Plaza is a newly developed 9-story, 175,000 sq. ft., mixed-use project in the heart of Ithaca’s Urban Renewal District. The development is the result of a partnership between the City of Ithaca and Cornell University aimed at encouraging redevelopment of the downtown area. This multi-phase project transformed the long vacant building into a new headquarters for a nonprofit mental health counseling organization specializing in mental health support and drug dependency counseling, as well as the city's LGBTQ+ community center. SUNY Broome converted the former Carnegie Library downtown into a brand-new Culinary Arts Center.
