Villager Mall – Office Center: Villager Mall is a redevelopment project that involved renovating the former Villager Center on the City of Madison’s south side. The Villager Center, originally constructed in the early 1960s, featured a mix of multiple tenant properties, both public and private, with leases of varying lengths. The 169,000 sq. ft. property was suffering from deferred maintenance and functional issues in the early 2000s, before the City stepped in to purchase the site in an effort to draw new retail tenants and services for the surrounding community. The property has brought in tenants including the Atrium, Planned Parenthood, UW Extension, Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC), Madison Area Technical College, and Access Community Health.
