Community Testimonials

I am Native American and I am an enrolled member of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin. The New Market Tax Credits are being widely used in Indian Country to help support economic development to such an underserved population. The NMTC are also being used for renewable energy for a lot of tribes. This has been very beneficial. My nonprofit has an over 51% Native American board and we want to help more Native American communities utilized the NMTC’s. Having the NMTC program become permanent will help so many Native American communities.

-Shelly Tucciarelli, Visionary Ventures NFP Corporation, Itasca, Illinois

The need for affordable housing in Utah is staggering, with so many lower income households paying more than 50% of their income for housing costs. NMTC are one viable and valuable toll to help in that problem. The permanent extension, the exception from AMT, and additional allocations immediately and ongoing are all critical to help in the effort to aid Utah’s lower income renters.

-Grant Whitaker, Utah Housing Corporation, West Valley, Utah

The NMTC is a significant tool for community developers, as it allows the stakeholders and developers to make change in low income communities on a greater scale. It stimulates additional investment in distressed communities that otherwise would not be made. Finally, it creates Jobs, increases community ownership, and hope for lower income residents.
