Project Description

NMTC-financed the construction of two new @Promise Youth Centers, state-of-the-art community facilities that emphasize creating positive relationships between police officers and the community. The facilities provide space for youth considered at-risk for committing crimes to participate in educational, recreational, emotional, and workforce development programming aimed at reducing recidivism. The two new @Promise Youth Centers is modeled after the successful Westside @Promise Youth Center, which has seen a 2% youth recidivism rate (compared to 20% in Fulton County, GA), a 92% high school graduation rate, and an 89% employment rate. Programming at the centers is provided by community organizations like CHRIS 180, Boys & Girls Club, Police Athletic League, Street Smart Youth Project, and Urban League.
