Project Description

The Caritas Center in Santa Rosa, CA is a new 3-story 46,500 sq. ft. center providing supportive services for the homeless and near homeless, a medical respite for homeless and a 2,000 sq. ft. Federally Qualified Health Center. The project is expected to substantially increase the number of people served from 1,564 in 2019 to 4,416 when the project is completed.

The Caritas Center will centralize and expand the services and programs currently on the site of the project sponsor, Catholic Charities of Santa Rosa, into a single comprehensive homeless support services facility including:

  • Family Support Center to provide a Head Start Program for children and emergency housing and services for homeless families.
  • Navigation/Day Center which will provide desperately needed short term transitional housing services, educational resources and health services, including primary care, mental health care, addiction counseling, showers and laundry, food and relief from the elements for over 3,000 individuals annually.
  • Catholic Charities estimates the number of individual visits to the Drop-In Day Center/Navigation Center is 50,140 based on the 1,090 people served annually, visiting 46 times per year.

After project completion the number of visits per year will increase to 59,800 (1,300 people served visiting 46 times annually). The Caritas Center will retain 100% of its current 46 employees and is expected to create 30 additional FTE positions with the development of the new facility. The construction is estimated to create 130 FTE positions through building completion. All employees working 30+/hour per week will have access to the following affordable benefits: medical, dental, vision, pension, 403b, life insurance. Regular monthly trainings on a variety of topics are available in alignment with accreditation standards. Entry level wages will be no less than $2/hour above California minimum wage.
