CommCare Corporation (“CommCare”) has owned and operated skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers throughout Louisiana since 1994 and is currently the largest non-profit nursing home owner/operator in Louisiana. CommCare is constructing a 72,000 sq. ft. skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Natchitoches, LA that will serve 120 patients per year, 80% of which will be low to moderate income individuals who are Medicare or Medicaid dependent.

The elderly care and nursing home community has been hit particularly hard by COVID 19. Development of the Project was effectively on hold between March and September 2020. During this six-month period, market conditions changed considerably causing significant increases to the development budget making the Project no longer financially viable. The construction budget increased by nearly $3,100,000 or 19% due to supply chain issues and limited product availability for construction materials. In response to COVID-19, the HVAC system will be upgraded compared to CommCare’s prior projects and each room will have its own highly efficient HVAC unit to minimize airborne transmission. The combination of CommCare’s delivery of care, facility design, staffing model and therapy center will result in higher quality of care to residents, better clinical outcomes and reduced hospital readmissions.
