Voices from the Community

We think [Court and Walnut] will be a great gathering place for people in downtown, OTR and the West End during work and after work. That’s the reason we built that store at that location.

Project Description

This project brings a healthy foods grocery to the Central Business Distract and Over-the-Rhine (OTR) neighborhoods of Cincinnati. With the only grocery store in OTR closing, this will keep a grocery in the area to provide residents with affordable healthy foods and daily necessities without the need for automobile transportation. The location is within walking distance for residents and also located next to a Cincinnati Bell Connector Streetcar stop. The Kroger Company will also be hiring the majority of all new employees from the OTR neighborhood which is considered a low-income community, giving them high quality jobs that provide opportunities for advancement.

This development is a partnership between Kroger, 3CDC, North American Properties, Northpointe Group and Rookwood Properties. Construction will result in an 18-story mixed-used development that includes a grocery store, parking garage, and residential units. Upon completion, Kroger will own and manage the 45,000 sq. ft. grocery store, which included a full-service grocery store on the first floor and a restaurant/bar and wine/beer sales on the second floor. 3CDC will own and manage the 560-space parking garage, which included 139 residential spaces and 139 spaces reserved for Kroger customers and employees, in addition to public parking. Lastly, North American Properties, Northpointe Group, and Rookwood Properties will own and manage the residential portion, which includes 139 market rate apartments. Construction is scheduled for completion by September 2019.
