Voices from the Community

As Mayor of the City of Fort Wayne, I have seen the benefits of NMTC serving our most vulnerable citizens, including veterans with traumatic brain injuries, severely disabled citizens, and the boys and girls from our the lowest income census tracks in the community. Over 40% of the NMTC awarded to the Fort Wayne based CDE have directly benefited non-profit organizations. Other examples include funding for a rural northeast Indiana manufacturing plant that provides engineering training that leads to high wage jobs, and urban mixed use projects that stabilize and revitalize our downtown while providing mixed-income housing opportunities. For Fort Wayne, and all of Indiana, the NMTC program is a critical tool.
