A local YMCA is being replaced with a newer, $21 million facility. When complete, it will offer expanded space and additional services. The new Miami County YMCA Piqua Branch is being constructed at 230 W. High St. in downtown Piqua, which is across the street from the existing location. The new and expanded YMCA will replace the current facility — described as “outdated” — with a 76,379 sq. ft. location. Construction is scheduled to begin in late April or early May, with an opening date expected in early 2024. H.A. Dorsten Inc. is the general contractor, and Taylor Architects designed the new facility. The branch is expected to serve 7,727 guests each year and will eventually employ over 38 people. Of those full-time employees, 32 are existing positions and six are new.
