Project Description

Milwaukee’s poverty and homelessness issues are vast and complex. Since 1893, the Milwaukee Rescue Mission (MRM) has tackled these issues head-on, serving the community with compassion and care through a variety of programs for adults and children, including its Cross Trainers Academy and Equip programs.

The Cross Trainers Academy provides support to at-risk children. Students are groomed for success and leadership through academics and life lessons about morals and character through Christian teaching.

Equip strengthens families through education and resources to help them become stable physically, emotionally and spiritually.

And, in 2015, MRM purchased property located at 15th and Center Streets where its Cross Trainers Academy and Equip department are now located. NMTC financing supported the purchase and outfitting of the new facility. Moving the school to a new, North Campus allowed MRM to be more central to the families whose children attend Cross Trainers. And, plugging Equip into the Lindsay Heights neighborhood allowed MRM to make a greater impact in the surrounding community.
