A sprawling healthy living center coming to 79th Street aims to empower South Siders when it comes to their health. SCORE allocated $8.5MM of federal NMTC allocation and $8.25MM of IL State NMTC allocation to Perspectives Charter Schools for the acquisition and refurbishment of a new campus building, to enable PCS to increase the number of students it serves, and create quality jobs. Construction of a 38,000 square foot new medical clinic and corporate offices located in the economically distressed and medically underserved neighborhood of Woodlawn on Chicago’s south side. An innovative project redeveloped a vacant 9-acre brownfield site into a sustainability campus which includes a biodigester, greenhouse space, community garden with a fresh produce stand and a visitor’s center with classrooms for STEM programs and community activities. NMTC financing for the commercial portion of a vertically subdivided, mixed-use project located within a redevelopment area formerly consisting of Chicago Housing Authority public housing. The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center Chicago, a Community Center, including recreational and job training components. Financing for a youth academic enrichment organization. NMTC financing from IFF helped the Centers for New Horizons rehabilitate their day care facility. Roseland used $19.7 NMTC million investment to fund two critical projects: (1) the creation of the Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit, a 28-bed inpatient psychiatric care program for at-risk teenagers; and (2) the development of a Women's Center of Excellence focusing on serving the obstetrical care and women's health needs of the greater Roseland community. UDF provided financing to the University of Chicago Medical Center for completion of multiple projects.
