The NMTC: An Important Financing Tool for YMCA and YWCAs

The YMCA is the leading nonprofit committed to strengthening individuals and communities across the country. The Y connects people with opportunities to improve your health, support young people, make new friends and contribute to a stronger, more cohesive community for all.

YWCA USA’s mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities. The YWCA is also one of the oldest and largest women’s organizations in the nation, serving over 2 million women, girls, and their families.

Over the past two decades, the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) has delivered nearly $1.6 billion in financing to 80 YMCAs and YWCAs, expanding recreation and health options in low-income communities across the country.
