Project Description

Union Crossing is a transformative multi-phase project, initiated in 2007 by the sponsor to redevelop a complex of 19th-century textile mills along the Merrimack River into a thriving mixed-use neighborhood. Throughout the nation, developers are embracing greener building methods to promote improved health, lower operating costs and greater resident retention.

With BlueHub Capital’s help, affordable housing developments are not just participating; they are leading the way. BlueHub Capital, known at the time as Boston Community Capital, helped finance green redevelopment of the Union Crossing mill in Lawrence, Massachusetts. The broad mill roof made Union Crossing a perfect platform for photovoltaic panels; other green and sustainable features of the project include high efficiency boilers and HVAC equipment, energy-efficient historic windows, and healthy construction materials throughout the building.
