Project Description

Construction of a 155k SF, seven-story high school campus to be known as KIPP Canal Street West. The state-of-the-art facility features 40 classrooms, science labs, a gymnasium and cafetorium, a Learning Lab, Dance Studio, and an outdoor rooftop play and learning space. The campus will serve more than 1400 students in grades 9-12 at full capacity (90% of which are expected to be low-income). The project’s sponsor is PCS Properties Foundation, Inc. Its affiliate, KIPP New York, Inc., was founded in 1995 and has since grown into one of the highest performing charter school networks in the New York City area. In addition to student success, KIPP NYC is also committed to educational equity, be it through the facility design or the curriculum offered.
