Komar Brands was founded in 1908 around the guiding principle of ‘one reputation, real values,’ which continues to guide the company today. The company has become a global leader in apparel design, sourcing, manufacturing and distribution and is a trusted partner bringing deep expertise and a personalized approach to each aspect of its operations. Today, the company is 50 percent owned by women and boasts a workforce that is 70 percent women across all locations. With over 100 brands, a global footprint, and recent growth, the company is looking to expand on its track record of success.
In 2024, Komar Brands secured financing to construct a new 765,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Bryan County, GA dedicated to e-commerce and distribution. Financing included a $40 million construction loan provided by TD Community Development Corporation (TDCDC), and $25 million in NMTC financing from TDCDC and the National New Markets Fund (NNMF) for equipment and working capital.
The new facility supports the creation of 296 quality jobs in an area of Bryan County with 14 percent unemployment. A majority of these jobs will be accessible to low-income people, with the highest credential being a forklift certification and all will receive benefits including healthcare, retirement savings plan and paid time off. The Komar team also offers a bonus program for distribution center employees, offering up to an additional six percent of annual wages.
Bryan County’s ever-growing and vibrant community is the sixth fastest growing county in the nation and the fastest growing county in Georgia, according to the 2020 census. Over the last decade, the county has experienced rapid growth compared to the national average. This growth has not come without challenges. Unemployment remains stubbornly high, and there is a need for quality, good paying jobs. This project will help ensure fewer residents are left behind as the county continues to grow.
