Mountain Park Health Center (MPHC) is a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), with a total of 9 clinic sites providing affordable primary care in the Phoenix, Tempe, Glendale and Goodyear Valley. For more than 40 years, MPHC has been delivering whole-patient care for the entire family, by serving over 120,000 patients in 2023, with an integrated healthcare model that includes primary medical, behavioral health, dental, and pharmacy services.
Raza Development Fund worked with JPMorgan Chase to provide $14 million in NMTC financing for the renovation and expansion of an existing 18,000 sq. ft. building, The Jesse Owens Clinic, to be expanded into a 30,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art health care facility for low-income families in Phoenix, Arizona. Renovations include 36 easily accessible exam rooms and pharmacy vaccine rooms; collaborative workspaces for the entire medical care team; provider lounge with telehealth rooms; and capability for 1,000 patient visits a week, expanding accessibility of high quality and affordable care in South Phoenix.
The Jesse Owens Clinic is located in one of the longest-standing buildings in South Phoenix, and named after record breaking Olympian Jesse Owens, who lived his final years in Arizona and was essential in making sure health care services were brought to the South Phoenix Area. The clinic has served South Phoenix residents in various capacities, from an urgent care facility, a pediatric clinic until its closure just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mountain Park acquired the facility soon after, and immediately put it to great use. It served as a critical hub during the Pandemic, providing COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, and had no renovations done since it opened in 1979.
