Project Description

NMTC-financed the construction of a 34,000 sq. ft. facility that will house a 12,000 sq. ft. Center for Workforce Innovation (career center) and 22,000 sq. ft. retail store. The Center will provide job training and career support to 8,300 people facing barriers to employment (annually), will provide graduates with the necessary certifications to attain entry-level jobs, and services like free computer access, job fairs, and résumé writing workshops. The Center will be GNG’s first location in the City of Atlanta and is purposefully located in a community currently lacking these resources to support disadvantaged residents who may have difficulty traveling to its existing locations. The retail store will employ graduates of Goodwill’s training programs while helping generate revenue to fund these programs. In addition to drop-in job search support like resume reviews and interview prep, Goodwill offers a broad range of job training programs that equip people with the skills needed to succeed in accessible, high-demand sectors. Goodwill of North Georgia (GNG) is a member of Goodwill Industries International, an association of 164 North American and 13 international Goodwill agencies. GNG operates more than 10 different industry-specific job training programs that provide certifications and employment in accessible, high-demand fields ranging from construction to health care.
