Project Description

Claflin University is a private historically black university in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Founded in 1869 after the American Civil War by northern missionaries for the education of freedmen and their children, it offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

The Claflin University Student Activity and Community Center (SACC) involved the construction of an 82,000 sq. ft. center featuring classrooms, student life/ learning space, meeting space, an event center, food court, and a movie theatre. The facility is expected to serve 3,000 community members each year in addition to the students at Claflin.
