Project Description

Construction of a 30,550 sq. ft. Central Office and Training Center for Communities in Schools, Central Texas (CIS-CT) on a 3.4-acre already purchased property in central southeast Austin. The location was chosen for its high accessibility to the seven (7) school districts that CIS-CT serves. In addition to supporting programmatic elements, the project includes office, meeting, training, and storage spaces for an organization whose current headquarters is busting at the seams. Since 1985, Communities in Schools, Central Texas has served the Austin MSA, providing community support to help students overcome obstacles to learning and success within the school environment.

Area leaders such as Texas State Representatives Lulu Flores (District 51) and Sheryl Cole (District 46) submitted letters of support for the project, calling CIS-CT “one of the most impactful nonprofits” in the region, and praising the project’s ability to increase the organization’s capacity to serve students “with significant unmet needs”.
