Project Description

Redevelopment of a vacant 168,000 sq. ft. industrial building into a vibrant economic hub on Chicago’s West side.Fillmore Linen Services, a new 45,000 sq. ft. commercial laundry social enterprise, will anchor the project .Fillmore Linen Services is part of broader efforts to advance job creation and increase economic opportunity for North Lawndale residents. The remaining space in the building will be leased to various small local businesses, including Southside Blooms, Kribi Coffee Air Roastery, CurlMix, and additional third-party tenants.

Located in the Deep Distress Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago, IL 41% PR, Fillmore Center FC used DVCI’s to rehabilitate a vacant 5-story,169K sq. ft. structure into vibrant economic hub. Anchored by Fillmore Linen Service, a commercial laundry service designed to support local area hospitals and potential for large scale job creation, FC includes a locally owned coffee roaster a beauty brand specializing in haircare products and flower distributor. The tenant selection is based on primary criteria including supporting local businesses with a focus on mission driven businesses that can create a high number of quality jobs. FC creates 250 Permanent Jobs 100% Quality; 100% accessible and 99 construction jobs. All jobs include extensive paid training by West Side United and wrap-around services such as financial literacy and home ownership seminars by Wintrust Bank. After the NMTC compliance period, the building will be turned over to a Community Benefit Trust, an innovative way to create community wealth.
