Voices from the Community

Without the support of NMTCs, we could not have built the Multiservice Non-Profit Hub in Roxbury, MA. This building represents a significant investment into what was at one time Boston’s most at-risk neighborhood. We now are able to provide early education services to over 250 children experiencing homelessness with an adjacent medical center to serve the needs of families accessing the childcare. In addition, we are the headquarters for YouthBuild USA and we house the Regional offices of Department of Children & Families to name a few. The building is a large step forward in terms of revitalizing the neighborhood and providing vital services to the community

Project Description

The project is a joint venture between Horizons for Homeless Children and WaterMark Development. The project enabled Horizons to occupy approximately 47,000 sq. ft. of a new building, allowing it to consolidate three leased locations into an owner-occupied space resulting in program efficiencies and cost savings. In addition, the number of homeless children served by Horizons’ programs increased from 175 to 225. WaterMark leased another 90,000 sq. ft. to nonprofits assisting homeless and underserved children, youth, and families. In addition, a local restaurateur opened a cafe on the ground floor. More than 380 jobs were associated with the new building.
