The Midtown Collaboration Center (MCC) will be a catalyst for economic development and community betterment in the Midtown neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio that will offer training and education to foster job creation, entrepreneur opportunities and positive health and wellness outcomes, and serve as a beacon for connecting residents to resources, training and technology.
The NMTC subsidy will enable the project to offer lease rates to tenants based on recovering costs for the building construction, maintenance and operating costs and will not operate the building based on profit; any excess revenue will be used for building programming. The tenants will be non-profit organizations; and no more than 10% of the space will be leased to local community partners who are not non-profit organizations but who are Underserved Minorities and will promote the programming goals of the project.
The anchor tenant is Jumpstart, Inc. a nonprofit organization, who will relocate its headquarters to the new building and will work jointly with the Cleveland Foundation to facilitate the programming of the Innovation Hall within the building which will be a collaborative space offering free co-working space to tenants and guests and open to the public as well as offering speakers and presentations to the community and open to the public for free. Other tenants include Case Western Reserve University for its New Center for Population Health Research, Cleveland Institute of Art’s new Interactive Media Lab, Economic Community Development Institute, Inc. a CDFI focused on small business lending, Assembly for the Arts, University Hospital’s new Diabetes Research and Wellness Center, Hyland Software will have a Hyland Software Training Center aimed at CMSD students grades 7-12, and includes Music Lounge and Black Frog Brewery (Cleveland’s first black owned brewery) and PearlFlower Kitchen, a black owned food vendor.
