Project Description

Renovate and equip an approximately 81,000 sq. ft. manufacturing an expanded line of fishing and pleasure boats, boat trailers, wiring harnesses and other boat related products. Excel Boat Company is the renovation of a vacant 90,000 sq. ft. industrial building in Union City, TN into a boat manufacturing facility and the purchase of new equipment to expand their prior operations. The new facility allowed Excel Boats to manufacture a new expanded line of fishing and pleasure boats, as well as boat trailers, upholstery, boat bracing and other boat related products. Without the NMTCs, the Project is not financially viable and Excel Boats would not be able to repurpose the vacant building into a manufacturing facility, limiting expansion and job creation. The cost of redevelopment, operating capital requirements and the additional risk associated with the large expansion would not support conventional financing. 190 direct FTE jobs created ⁻ 195 FTE construction jobs ⁻ 80% of the jobs will be filled by low-income persons or residents of the low-income community ⁻ Jobs will incorporate a comprehensive education program to develop employee skills, safety, and team building
