Universal Health Services, Inc. used NMTC financing to construct a 120‐bed trauma‐based residential treatment facility which will replace the current Mountain Youth Academy facility in the underserved community of Mountain City, Tennessee. Currently, the distressed and outdated condition of the facility limits the number of youth that are able to receive treatment annually. UHS will expand Mountain Youth Academy’s capacity by upgrading the existing 88 beds and adding 32 new beds focused on treating at‐risk youth ages 5 to 17. With the addition of these beds, the facility will be equipped to serve an increased number of patients annually. The new treatment center will improve the area’s access to essential mental health care and expand the reach of these services by filling the present void in patient capacity.
