This project supported the equipment purchases and revitalization of an abandoned facility to be utilized for manufacturing personal care products. In addition to the direct jobs created at Ampro as a result of the project, the company is driving significant economic opportunities within the local community as a result of the construction of the facility. At the local level, the county provides a tax abatement for projects that utilize MBEs as part of their construction projects. In order to qualify for the tax freeze, Ampro needed to contract with MWBEs for $4.2 million in costs related to the project. To date, the company has spent over $10.77 million with local MWBEs, with current estimates projecting that total MWBE spending will total over $12 million upon completion. This will qualify the company for a 6 year property tax abatement, which amounts to over $3 million in savings to Ampro.
