Project Description

The construction and purchase of equipment for the brand new Northgate Market in Fontana, a USDA food Desert. The introduction of a Northgate Gonzalez Supermarket will provide this severely distressed low-income community with groceries and fresh foods at an affordable price to meet the needs of this low-income community that historically has had limited access to quality, affordable fresh and healthy food options. Northgate also services families that utilize SNAP and EBT to purchase their food. The project created 284 construction jobs, and is projected to create 168 FTE. The Northgate Market has completed construction and is currently in service.
