Project Description

Acquisition, rehabilitation and expansion of a former office facility to serve 888 K-12 students through the One City nonprofit public charter elementary and secondary education programs in a severely distressed neighborhood. One City was created by the residents of its low-income community in South Madison, Wisconsin with a goal to implement a demonstration educational model based on interventions, moving beyond the traditional school model. One City offers students an extended day of enrichment, including co-curricular learning experiences in which many of the school’s parents would not have the financial means to enroll their children without One City as a resource. Additionally, healthy meals, wellness, early college and culturally competent curricula are part of One City’s innovative programming.
