Project Description

Arts nonprofit owned/managed office and retail space. Includes an art gallery along with working studios of 10 artists. In Asheville’s River Arts District, 362 Depot Street presents the work of ten distinct artisans. The building is more than 100 years old, and in its industrial heritage, it was a meat packing facility and a general store. Today, the high ceilings and large open space are divided into individual areas for each artist. The member-artists staff the gallery and sometimes create on-site.

NMTC financing supported the renovation of the building in support of an arts nonprofit owned/managed office and retail space. Visitors to 362 Depot Street can view extensive collections of work from each represented artist. Member-artists work in fiber, lamp making, and multiple styles of painting. Items available for purchase include paintings of all sizes and styles, scarves, shawls, tables, bookmarks pressed with local flora and hand-dyed silk, and more.
