The Glazer Children’s Museum (GCM), located in downtown Tampa, Florida, provides educational experiences through hands‐on engaging exhibits and programs to children, with a primary focus on the birth‐10 year old range. An allocation of NMTCs was obtained to complete financing on a 53,000 sq. ft. facility expansion project. The transaction closed on January 25, 2011 with $10 million coming from CTA CDE and $10.5 million Stonehenge Community Development. Stonehenge also provided $10 million of Florida NMTCs. With anticipated attendance of 200,000 annually, the museum has dedicated a substantial effort to reach out to surrounding neighborhoods that are in significant economic distress. The community impact of the museum is substantial. A tremendous amount of work has gone into formalizing a series of partnerships with public, private and nonprofit organizations to bring children from low‐income neighborhoods to the museum, and to bring museum activities to them in their communities. A key objective for GCM is to serve low-income and at-risk families and children. The museum has set an objective of 10% of its annual on-site attendance to be free. This will equate to approximately 20,000 visitors a year. Through outreach programs to community centers, schools and parks, an additional 25,000 to 50,000 children and caregiver were reached.
