WC Smith has used the NMTC to revitalize communities in Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD since 2004, with 6 separate projects. The NMTC is unlike any other subsidy program offered by the federal government in that it spurs economic growth that lifts entire communities, and allows those who work in those communities to partner with area residents to deliver the services and amenities that they need the most. Over our 20 years with the NMTC program, we have delivered healthcare in medical deserts, fresh food in food deserts, educational and extracurricular activities for children in underserved communities, public parks, and historical preservation of unique architecture. No other program is so versatile and able to target the disparate needs of underprivileged communities across our vast country. Please preserve and expand the NMTC so we can continue to deliver services and amenities to the communities that need them the most.
