We have been able to complete construction on at least 8 projects in the downtown Flint area through the use of the NMTC program. Without these tax credits, the financial cost of construction within this area would be an insurmountable obstacle. Flint would continue to see vacant blighted buildings in its downtown instead of a thriving Farmers Market, rehabbed mixed use buildings bringing jobs and housing downtown, a children’s health facility, and many other projects.
